Summer Card Buffet

Come join us for my Summer Card Buffet. There will be 10 unique cards to choose from and you can make one of each, or 10 of one, or any combination in between.  This time I'll be using the auditorium at my office so we'll have plenty of space.  Cost is $2.50 per card.  Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 9am to 4pm.  Please let me know by August 6, 2011 if you plan to attend so I will have enough supplies on hand for everyone. June Stamp Club

This was our first card on Friday night.  Happiness Shared & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Cream & Regal Rose CS, Stazon Black & Rose Red Ink; colored with pastels and blender pens, then ran each piece through the cuttlebug.  A little time consuming, but easy card.

Baby card uses Teeny Tiny Wishes for the words, then embossed with the cuttlebug.  Very easy card.  Also uses a circle and circle scallop punch.  White & Celery CS and Black and Celery Ink.

Inspired by Nature & Curly & Cute stamp sets; versa mark, chocolate chip ink; cotton balls with pastels.  Another easy card that took a bit of time.

Butterfly Easel card inspired by this card (click here). Pink Pirouette & Rich Razzleberry CS, Rich Razzleberry Ink.  This butterfly was cut with the SU Bigshot and Butterfly dye.  Very simple, but elegant.

Making Jewelry Again

Several years ago I got into making my own jewelry and even tried selling it on consignment and at a few bazaars.  It didn't go over very well, so I pretty much stopped.  I made a few pieces over the last several years for special birthdays and for myself, but not really very many. 

I recently became obsessed with it again.  I'm not sure why, except that I saw a new technique and wanted to try it.  So, I spent last weekend making a few new pieces.  Here are the pictures of them.  I need to do some research on the best way to photograph jewelry.  Watch for more styles and designs to come in the future.

May Stamp Club

Here are the cards that we made last Friday for our stamp club.  Our theme was dads and grads.

This is my favorite of the three cards that we made.  It uses Lovely as a Tree (my all time favorite SU stamp set) and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamps.  CS - Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla.  Inks - Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi.  It's hard to tell in this photo, but the Early Espresso Layer that's the first layer on the card is embossed using the texture plates.  The Top Note die is also embossed this way and then I used an oval Spellbinders to cut out the middle.  In all, this card went through my bigshot 4 times.  Sponged around the edges of the top note die, inside and outside, an then sponged lightly over the top to bring out the wood grain texture.  Stamped the trees in Early Espresso then sponged color on with the blues and green.  The top note die is popped up with mounting tape.

This card uses the same stamp sets as the first one.  Also embossed with the dots embossing folder.  Card base is Elegant Eggplant with a Basic Black layer, then the DSP and Wild Wasabi layer.  The tree is colored using the "Thumping" technique.

Begin this technique by inking up the tree stamp in the light green color (Certainly Celery), then add more color by thumping the brush tips of the markers on it.  I used So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, & Elegant Eggplant for the thumping and then colored in the tree trunk with Chocolate Chip.  Once the color is on the stamp, mist VERY lightly with water, huff on it, then stamp.  It makes a subtle water color look.  Lots of fun to do, but if you're doing very many at once it can take a while.

I have a friend whose husband was graduating with his Masters Degree from Corban University and she asked me to make open house invitations for him.  I don't have any graduation stamps that would work, so I went to my favorite inspirational place and found this card.  I only made 2 small changes, the word stamp and the gold cardstock.  You can see the orignal card here.  Thank you very much Lori Tecler, for helping me out.  Supplies are SU Shimmery White & Basic Black CS, and shiny gold from Craft Warehouse.  I like the shiny gold better.  The word is from an older SU stamp set that I can't remember the name of.  SU Star Punch and gold brads.

I know it's been along time since I've posted (other than the one I just did).  I have too many things going on in my life and then was sick for three weeks.  I had to cancel my April stamp club, and I'm still trying to decide about May.  Anyway, here are the cards that I made for April.

March Stamp Club
